What do you think I’m running here? A bed and breakfast?

“My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.”
-Mark Twain
E is our resident teenager in training. She stays up late and she sleeps in for us in the mornings. She is the total opposite of her sisters. I think that most mornings, she would sleep much longer, but after the other two are up, the noise level is too loud for anyone to continue to sleep. We do our best to try to keep them quiet and out of her room, but they don’t like it when someone is missing. They do their darndest to get her up to play too. It’s sweet if you think about it, but we tend to see the cranky side of E later in the day because she really needed more sleep. Lately, she has also been placing her breakfast order with me before she goes to sleep at night. She will tell me exactly what she wants and expects me to remember it in the morning. One day, I forgot what she requested. So as they were all piling into their seats at the table, I asked E what kind of cereal she wanted. I was in a hurry and figured that would be quick and easy. Her reply, “I’m just going to sit here and wait for my peach oatmeal.” That’s when I realized that she does indeed always eat the order she placed the night before. I have to make sure that I never agree to a breakfast we don’t have on hand!
