Vacuum Vacation

I’m not sure why it has taken me so long to discover the joys of what I now call my “Vacuum Vacation.” No it’s not a vacation from having to vacuum, although I would enjoy that too! It is the mental vacation I can take while doing a bit of cleaning. After a few days of being cooped up in the house, the kids were really getting on each other’s nerves. I was getting tired of the bickering and fighting. The carpets were also showing the results of this recent bout of cabin fever. So I got my vacuum out of the coat closet and as the Lucky Ducks game fell on my head, and as it started the annoying quacking sound, I got an idea. The vacuuming itself is quite boring, but the noise from the machine helps drown out the screaming. So I decided to wear my iPod while I vacuumed. What a wonderful idea! If I turn the music up really loud, I can barely hear the kids as they yell, “Mom, you are standing in front of the TV and making too much noise. You are making us miss WordWorld” Then if I sing really loud along to the music, I can’t hear them holler about the Polly Pocket I was about 1 second from sucking up. It was great! Their mouths were moving, but I was only hearing James Blunt serenading me and telling me I was beautiful. Then JT was bringing sexy back. I’m going to have to start a new vacuuming playlist! Might as well feel good about myself while I do my chores! I enjoyed my vacuum vacation so much I was a bit sad when it ended and I put the vacuum back in the closet, but I was out of carpets. I realized that I never picked up the Lucky Duck game from earlier. As I moved the carpet cleaner a bit (so I could get the rest of the quacking ducks put back on the shelf), I had another great idea…my carpets were also shampooed that day.
