Upcycled Skirt to Shirt

June 14, 2010

I found this skirt the other day. I was too big for Katelyn, but I figured I could just make it smaller and she could have it as a skirt. Later that evening, my friend came over for a visit and we brainstormed a cuter idea for this “fruit stripe gum” skirt. I’m quite pleased with the results!

Here’s the before…I so didn’t think that ribbon coordinated!

as a skirt, that was pretty ugly! But as a shirt, it is adorable! Could be that your model helped improve it a lot! :)
    what a cutie!
    seriously, great job!
I hate sewing, give me a table saw any day!
sorry you didn’t find any good items on your last trip thrifting.

Great idea. I’ve seen the other way around (repurposing a shirt into a skirt) but never considered that it could work both ways! I’m going to keep my eye out for second hand skirts so I can make one for my daughter!

That looks so much better as a shirt than it did in its former life. Too cute.
