Treasure Hunt

June 23, 2008

Since it’s been either hot or raining here, I keep supplying indoor activities.  I will see about adding more outdoor ones for the near future for those of you who live in a cooler, drier climate this time of the year. :)   Actually, this activity can be indoors, outside or both!

Everyone loves a great treasure hunt.  So let the hunting begin!

Start by taking pieces of paper and writing clues on them.

For example, you could write: I wonder where rabbits would keep their food in our house?

This might lead the seekers to think of carrots or lettuce, which in turn would lead them to the vegetable drawer in your fridge.

So, then place another clue in the vegetable drawer pointing them to somewhere else. You can place as many clues as you want, depending on how much time you have to hide them and the treasure hunters have to find them.

At the end of the last clue, there is a surprise for the treasure!

If you have younger children the clues might need to be easier. It does take a bit of time to come up with the clues, but it’s fun!

The prize at the end doesn’t have to be expensive, it can be a book, a note saying how special they are, a picture of them you just had developed, or a plate of homemade cookies.  You pick the treasure and the clues and let the hunt begin!
