Pumpkin Carving

November 1, 2008

Yesterday mom came over to carve our pumpkins and hand out Halloween candy while we took the girls to trick or treat. At K’s request, I carved an Ariel pumpkin. K wanted to carve her little pumpkin also, so she drew the face and I cut it out for her. We had a lot of fun! Mom picked a cute skeleton to carve. I think they all came out great!

When K got home from school, she was asking mom about her choice of pictures to put on her pumpkin. Mom showed her the skeleton and K thought it was a bit scary, but still liked it. She called him a man with bones. This is the conversation that followed:

Grammy: K, do you know what someone with just bones is called?

K: Dead!

After the pumpkin carving, we had dinner and got the kids dressed to trick or treat. K went as Ariel, E was Snow White and M was going as Cinderella. As she was getting dressed, M freaked out about dressing up as Cinderella. She has never been into dressing up. So just wanted to wear her trick or treat t-shirt and jeans instead. At the last minute, I remembered that she will wear her dog costume around the house sometimes. So I got it out and she agreed! They loved getting candy from everyone and they also loved giving candy to the kids who came to the door. This was the first year that J and I could just stand at the end of the driveways and not have to walk them to each door. Here are a few pics of the night. The wigs were cracking me up!
