Plumb Lyrics Got Me Thinking
April 14, 2009
While I was at my MOPS meeting on Friday, I was introduced to Plumb music. I had never heard of Plumb, but I love a couple of her songs now. They are the kind of songs that go straight to your soul and put motherhood into song for you.
The first one I love rang true for me last night. Madison was sick. Some fever virus is running through our house. Emily had a fever for 3 days over the weekend and when it broke, Madison got it. It has to go somewhere, right?
So about 2:30 this morning, she woke me up. Her fever was almost 103. I dosed her with Motrin and tried to get her to go back to sleep.
She tried.
Sleep did not happen for her. She wanted her mommy.
So we decided to go downstairs and cuddle on the sofa together. Why fight for bed space with Daddy when we can have the sofa to ourselves?
We watched Ratatouille until her fever started to come down and she was ready to sleep again.
She slept and I did not. It was too close to getting up time for me to fall back asleep.
This morning, Jon asked me how much sleep I got during the night. Then he sweetly commented what a great mom I am.
I am no different than many, many other moms in this world.
When my child needs me I’ll be there, no matter what, no matter when. So will their dad.
As they grow, their needs will change.
As my mom said this morning, you always want to be your child’s protector, their healer, their soft place to land when they fall. It is painful to a mom’s heart when they realize that they have taken a backseat view in their child’s life.
You pray one day that your child will find a spouse one day and find fulfillment with a new kind of love. With that new love, comes a new protector, a new healer and a new soft place to land. I was lucky enough to find this new love in my husband.
Like I said before, we will always be there when our girls need us. We will love them forever and for always.
Just like I know my mom and dad will be there for me…forever and for always.
It’s just how it works. That’s how we roll.
I thank our girls all the time for choosing me to be their mom.
It humbles me to know I have been blessed with these little lives.
Like Plumb says, I am crazy blessed and oh so lucky.
One day, I pray that our girls grow up and find the same kind of love their parents share. I pray that they have beautiful families. I will rejoice when I realize they have a wonderful, new soft place to land when they fall.
It will also break my heart to know it’s no longer my pillow that holds the key to their peace.
Until then, I will hold onto them as tight as I can and let them know we will always love them and we will always be here.
Forever and for always.
So after all that, here are the lyrics to the songs that prompted this lack of sleep ramble from me. I’m also including a video link in case you would like to hear the song.
In My Arms by Plumb
your baby blues
so full of wonder
your curly cues
your contagious smile
and as i watch
you start to grow up
all I can do is hold you tight
knowing
clouds will rage up
storms will race in
but you will be safe
in my arms
rains will pour down
waves will crash around
but you will be safe
in my arms
story books are full of fairy tales
of kings and queens and the bluest skies
My heart is torn
just in knowing
you’ll someday see
the truth from lies
when the
clouds will rage and
storms will race in
but you will be safe
in my arms
rains will pour down
waves will crash around
but you will be safe
in my arms
Castles they might crumble
dreams may not come true
but you are never all alone
because I will always
always love you
when the
clouds will rage up
storms will race in
but you will be safe
in my arms
rains will pour down
waves will crash around
but you will be safe
in my arms
in my arms
Me-by Plumb
I haven’t had
A chance to sleep
And when I wake
I wake with your dreams
I guess my pillow
Holds some kind of key
To your peace
Your peace
Me
I wouldn’t trade your love for all the candy
In this great big world
Me
I feel so crazy blessed and oh so lucky
To be the place you go
When you need to feel safe
When you need a kiss
It’s me
I haven’t showered
And I tried to eat
But all your tears
Oh they needed me
I need some time, some time to think
But then I hear you
And what you need is…
Me
I wouldn’t trade your love for all the candy
In this great big world
Me
I feel so crazy blessed and oh so lucky
To be the place you go
I wash your face
To make room for
All the kisses
Of tomorrow
And every day
That I get to
Be here with you
Is sweet
Me
I wouldn’t trade your love for all the candy
In this great big world
Me
I feel so crazy blessed and oh so lucky
To be the place you go
When you need to feel safe
When you need a kiss
Oh don’t be afraid
Cause what you’ll have is….
Me
