Dinosaur Dig

June 12, 2008

Have a budding paleontologist at home? Give them a dinosaur dig! Start by getting a dinosaur model kit. They make some really neat wooden ones. Most craft or hobby stores will have them. I’ve seen them from time to time at the Dollar Tree also. Count how many pieces you have so you know that all of them have been found. Then take the pieces and scatter/bury them in a sandbox. If you don’t have a sandbox, you can buy a few bags of sand. Find a good spot in your yard to scatter the dinosaur bones and cover the area in sand. Give your child a paint brush (a 2″ brush works well) for the hunt and let them have fun. After all of the pieces have been discovered, they can put the model together. This is a fun idea for a dinosaur themed party too!
