Coupons

“The best way to keep children at home is to make the home atmosphere pleasant–and let the air out of their tires.”

-Dorothy Parker

Coupons in the Sunday paper just don’t seem to be what they used to be. Instead of coupons for grocery items I buy I see a lot of ads instead. Do people really buy the mumus, coins and plants that don’t need to be watered that are advertised in the coupon section?

I have decided to look other places for coupons to add to the paltry amount in the paper. These are my favorite sites.

At Coupons.com you can print the coupons at home on your printer. Don’t do like I did the first time and mess up when printing them…I reached my print limit and never got the coupons. There are also many other sites that will let you print coupons. I have found that they are basically the same coupons though and once you have reached your limit on one site, it transfers the limit to the other ones.

Cool Savings does basically the same thing as Coupons.com, but they have some different coupons and also information for online savings.

I also went to Shortcuts.com and downloaded coupons directly to my Kroger Plus Card and they are automatically deducted from my bill when I buy that item.

Finally, The Coupon Clippers is another great site for coupons. It has a section where you can print coupons from Red Plum, but the rest of the site is not set up to print the coupons. You simply see what coupons you want and add them to your cart. They have over 2 million coupons in stock. Not over 2 million different coupons, but coupons total. Some coupons have limits on how many you can purcase and other have a minimum amount you have to purchase. There is a small handling fee for each coupon. It is based on how
much the coupon is worth. For example, a $0.50 will have a $0.08 to $0.15 fee.

So I decided to try out this coupon clippers site this past weekend. They usually upload new coupons in the wee hours of Saturday morning. So if you stay up late on Friday night, you can get the best coupons. I picked the coupons I wanted to get. The selection was great and I put them in my cart to checkout. There was an additional admin fee of about $0.50 and a shipping fee of about the same price. My total was just under $5. I paid with my PayPal account. I ended up with well over $30 worth of coupons so I didn’t mind the $5 for them. They were mailed to me on Monday and I had them by Wednesday.

So today I went armed with my coupons to Kroger for some groceries. My bill ended up being just over $200. I saved $20 with my Kroger Plus card and I also had $20 in coupons! So I only paid $163 for my $200 bill!
